Imaging (Scanning)
Imaging is the name used to define the process of transferring paper records to images that appear on a computer monitor. This process was previously referred to names such as scanning, electronic imaging, optical imaging and more. This process is commonly used to transfer active paper records into a distribution media for quick retrieval and multiple user access.
Access Systems specializes in the conversion of paper records to image especially paper records that include multi-coloured, varied thickness and/or textured documents that often are difficult to capture using off the shelf scanning equipment.
Access Systems also specializes in the conversion of microfilm to images. The Microfilm formats we handle include 16mm & 35mm microfiche, 16mm &35mm roll microfilm as well as aperture cards to Tiff or PDF formats.
Imaging requires either a cross reference index or a long descriptive file name. We have the processes in place to provide either service.

Newspaper Microfiche & Microfilm
Community Newspapers are a tremendous source of information about events and people in your community. Since 1988 Access Systems has worked closely with OCNA (Ontario Community Newspaper Association) in providing a compact easy to use long-term storage media namely 16mm Microfiche for many Ontario Community Newspapers. The 16mm Microfiche we provide allows rural Newspaper Publishers and Libraries to access information from past issues using inexpensive microfiche readers.
Access Systems also provides 35mm Roll Microfilm services for Publishers and Libraries that prefer to use this format of long-term storage media.
Imaging Newpapers
Access Systems offers the conversion of new and old newspapers to PDF images as well as 16mm Microfiche or 35mm Microfilm to PDF images. In addition to imaging of the newspaper or microfilm images PDF – OCR is also available to provide searchable text.
